Meet the BEATS Board
Marcus Ryder is the Head of External Consultancies at the Sir Lenny Henry Centre for Media Diversity which was set up to explore and increase diversity across the industry including journalism, acting, film, TV and radio in both front-of-house and behind the scenes roles.

He has spent over 25 years working in the media across the world including eight years as a senior executive at the BBC, winning numerous industry awards - from BAFTAs to Royal Television Society Awards and Foreign Press Association Awards. He has previously held the position of Chair of the Royal Television Society Diversity Committee and is currently a trustee at the Press Pad Charitable Foundation. BEATS is honoured that Marcus has agreed to sit on the board.
Dr Diana Yeh is Senior Lecturer in Sociology, Culture and the Creative Industries and Associate Dean of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in the School of Arts and Social Sciences, City, University of London. She works on race and racisms, migration, cultural politics and activism. She is currently Principal Investigator of the project, ‘Responding to COVID-19 Anti-Asian Racial Violence through Community Care, Solidarity and Resistance’ funded by Resourcing Racial Justice and the SASS Higher Education Innovation Fund. Recent articles and editorials include: Becoming “British East Asian and Southeast Asian”: Anti-racism, Chineseness, and Political Love in the Creative and Cultural Industries’; ‘COVID-19, Anti-Asian Racial Violence and The Borders of Chineseness’; and ‘#BLM and the city’.
